Jeff Davis County (Texas)

The Jeff Davis County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is located in Fort Davis.

Geography

The County is located in western Texas and adjacent to the western tip of Mexico. It has an area of ​​5865 square kilometers, without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Reeves County, Pecos County, Brewster County, Presidio County and Culberson County.

History

Jeff Davis County was formed in 1887 from parts of Presidio County. It was named after Jefferson Davis, the only President of the Confederate States of America.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Jeff Davis County 2,207 people in 896 households and 632 families. The population density was 0.4 people per square kilometer.
