Grayson County (Texas)

The Grayson County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Sherman.

Geography

The County is located north-east of the geographic center of Texas and is bordered to the north by Oklahoma. It has an area of ​​2536 square kilometers, of which 118 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Fannin County, Collin County, Denton County, Cooke County and Oklahoma to the counties: Love County, Marshall County and Bryan County.

History

Grayson County was formed in 1846 from parts of Fannin County. It was named after Peter Wagener Grayson, an Attorney General of the Republic of Texas.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 110 595 people in Grayson County; were counted 42 849 households and 30 208 families. The population density was 46 people per square kilometer.
