McCulloch County, Texas

The McCulloch County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Brady.

Geography

The County is located near the geographical center of Texas and has an area of 2780 square kilometers, of which 10 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Coleman County, Brown County, San Saba County, Mason County, Menard County and Concho County.

History

McCulloch County was formed in 1856 from parts of Bexar County. It was named Ranger and later General of the Confederate Army after Benjamin McCulloch, a Texas.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in McCulloch County 8,205 people in 3,277 households and 2,267 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer.
