Grimes County, Texas

The Grimes County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Anderson.

Geography

The County is located east of the geographic center of Texas, halfway to Louisiana and has an area of ​​2075 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Madison County, Walker County, Montgomery County, Waller County, Washington County and Brazos County.

History

Grimes County was formed in 1846 from parts of Montgomery County. It was named for Jesse Grimes, an early settler of the future County.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Grimes County 23,552 people in 7,753 households and 5,628 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer.
