Robertson County (Texas)

The Robertson County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Franklin.

Geography

The County is located in east-central Texas and has an area of ​​2242 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Limestone County, Leon County, Brazos County, Burleson County, Milam County and Falls County.

History

Robertson County was formed in 1837 from parts of Bexar County, Milam County and Nacogdoches County. It was named after Sterling Clack Robertson, an early settler, founder of a colony in Texas and signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000, lived in Robertson County 16,000 people in 6,179 households and 4,356 families. The population density was 7 people per square kilometer.
