Haskell County (Texas)

The Haskell County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Haskell.

Geography

The County is located north of the geographic center of Texas, about 100 km from the border with Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2358 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Knox County, Throckmorton County, Shackelford County, Jones County and Stonewall County.

History

Haskell County was formed in 1858 from parts of Fannin County and Milam County. It was named after Charles Ready Haskell, a soldier who fell in the massacre of Goliad during the Texas Revolution.
