Roberts County (Texas)

The Roberts County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is located in Miami. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in North Texas, the Texas Panhandle, about 40 km in the north and east of Oklahoma and about 130 km in the west of New Mexico removed. It has an area of ​​2394 square kilometers, without significant water surface. The county is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Ochiltree County, Hemphill County, Grey County and Hutchinson County.

History

Roberts County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named after Oran M. Roberts, the 7th Governor of Texas and signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Roberts County 887 people in 362 households and 275 families. The population density was 0.3 people per square kilometer.
