Comanche County (Texas)

The Comanche County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Comanche.

Geography

The County is located about 50 km north-east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2454 square kilometers, of which 26 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Erath County, Hamilton County, Mills County, Brown County and Eastland County.

History

Comanche County was formed in 1856 from parts of Bosque County and Coryell County. It was named after the Comanches, an Indian people.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 14,026 people in Comanche County; were counted 5,522 households and 3,926 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer.
