Motley County, Texas

The Motley County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Matador. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located north of the geographic center of Texas and is in the northeast about 50 miles from Oklahoma away. It has an area of ​​2564 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hall County, Cottle County, Dickens County, Floyd County and Briscoe County.

History

Motley County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Junius William Mottley, a soldier who fell at the Battle of San Jacinto.
