Wilson County (Texas)
The Wilson County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county administration is Floresville.
Geography
The County is located in the central southeast Texas, is located about 130 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of 2094 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Guadalupe County, Gonzales County, Karnes County, Atascosa County and Bexar County.
History
Wilson County was formed in 1874 from parts of Bexar County and Karnes County. It was named after James Charles Wilson, a U.S. Senator from Texas and one of the leaders of the United Methodist Church in Texas.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Wilson County 32 408 people in 11,038 households and 8,830 families. The population density was 16 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 81.19 percent White, 1.21 percent African American, 0.58 percent Native American, 0.30 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 14.25 percent from other races groups; 2.43 percent were descended from two or more races. 36.52 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 11,038 households out of which 40.0 per cent of children or young people who lived with them. 66.5 percent were married couples living together, 9.2 percent were single mothers and 20.0 percent were non-families. 17.1 percent of all households and 7.8 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 3.26 persons.
29.2 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 7.6 percent between 18 to 24, 28.6 percent between 25 and 44, 23.2 percent between 45 and 64 and 11.5 percent were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97 men.
The median income for a household was $ 40,006, and the median income for a family was $ 45,681. Males have a median income of $ 31,716, women $ 23,582. The per capita income was $ 17,253. 9.2 percent of families and 11.3 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
