Wilson County (Texas)

The Wilson County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county administration is Floresville.

Geography

The County is located in the central southeast Texas, is located about 130 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​2094 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Guadalupe County, Gonzales County, Karnes County, Atascosa County and Bexar County.

History

Wilson County was formed in 1874 from parts of Bexar County and Karnes County. It was named after James Charles Wilson, a U.S. Senator from Texas and one of the leaders of the United Methodist Church in Texas.
