Travis County, Texas

The Travis County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas to the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Austin, which is the same time as the capital of Texas.

Geography

The County is located about 150 km south-east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2647 square kilometers, of which 85 square kilometers are water surface. History

Travis County was formed in 1840 from parts of Bastrop County. It was named after William Barret Travis, commander and a defender of the Alamo.
