Van Zandt County, Texas

The Van Zandt County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Canton. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located about 200 km north-east of the geographic center of Texas and is in the north about 80 km before the border with Oklahoma and in the east about 100 miles from Arkansas away. History

Van Zandt County was formed in 1848 from parts of Henderson County. It was named after Isaac Van Zandt, an early settler, who gained as a prosecutor and Congress Member of Texas fame.
