Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Texas, about 50 miles off the southeastern tip of New Mexico and has an area of ​​2371 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. History

Martin County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Wylie Martin, an early settler in Texas. The farms built on mainly grain, cotton, vegetables and wine.
