Throckmorton County, Texas

The Throckmorton County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Throckmorton. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located about 150 km north of the geographical center of Texas and has an area of ​​2371 square kilometers, of which 8 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Baylor County, Young County, Stephens County, Shackelford County and Haskell County.

History

Throckmorton County was formed in 1858 from parts of Fannin County. It was named after William Edward Throckmorton, an early settler of Collin County.
