Archer County, Texas

The Archer County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Archer City.

Geography

The County is located in North Texas (but not Panhandle Texas) away, about 50 km from the border with Oklahoma. History

Archer County was formed in 1858 from parts of Clay County. It was named for Branch Tanner Archer, a former police commissioner of Texas. Before the arrival of white settlers, there were Apaches, Wichita, Tawakonis, Kichais, Caddoes, Comanches and Kiowas later.
