Hardin County (Texas)

The Hardin County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Kountze.

Geography

The County is located in East Texas, about 40 km from Louisiana and has an area of ​​2324 square kilometers, of which 8 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Tyler County, Jasper County, Orange County, Jefferson County, Liberty County and Polk County.

History

Hardin County was formed in 1858 from parts of Jefferson County and Liberty County. It was named after a prominent family named Hardin in Liberty County.

Demographic data
