Lumberton is a city in Hardin County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located between U.S. Highway 69, 287 and 96 in southeast Texas, is approximately 50 km to the east of Louisiana, located south 70 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 24.4 km ² without significant water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 8,731 people in 3,198 households and 2,542 families. The population density was 358.6 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 97.64 % White, 0.05 % African American, 0.29 % Native American, 0.21 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 0.87 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 0.95% were Mixed Race and 2.79 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
