Baylor County, Texas

The Baylor County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Seymour.

Geography

The County is located in North Texas, about 60 km from the border with Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2334 square kilometers, of which 78 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Wilbarger County, Wichita County, Archer County, Young County, Throckmorton County, Haskell County, Knox County and Foard County.

History

Baylor County was formed in 1858 from parts of Fannin County. It was named after Henry Weidner Baylor, a Texas Ranger during the Mexican-American War.
