Ackerly is a city in Martin County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States. In 2010 the town had 220 inhabitants with a population density of 275 persons / km ².

Geography

The city is located on U.S. Highway 87, which runs from Lamesa to Big Spring. The roads in 2002 and 2212 intersect the suburbs. The city is located partially in the southeast corner of Dawson County and partly in Martin County. It has a total area of 0.8 km ², without significant water surface.

History

The town was founded in 1923 and it was named after its founder, Paul Ackerly from Georgia. The first post office was opened in 1924. A school district, composed of parts of Dawson County, Borden County, Martin County and Howard County was formed the following year and built a school.
