Curry County (New Mexico)
Curry County is a county in the east of the state of New Mexico in the United States. The County has 48 376 inhabitants. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Clovis. The county was named after George Curry, a governor of New Mexico in the years 1907-1910.
Geography
The county has an area of 3,646 square kilometers; of which 4 square kilometers (0.12 percent) of water. The county is bordered clockwise to the County: Quay County, Roosevelt County, Bailey County ( Texas), Parmer County ( Texas) and Deaf Smith County ( Texas)

According to the census of 2000, there were 45 044 people in the county. There were 16,766 households, and 11,870 families. The population density was 12 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 72.40 % White, 6.86 % African American, 1.00 % Native American, 1.78 % Asian, 0.13 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 14.08% from other races groups; 3.75% were descended from two or more races. 30.38 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 16,766 households out of which 38.00 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.00 % were married couples living together, 12.80% had a female householder with no husband. 29.20 % were non-families. 25.50% of all households and 9.00% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.15 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 30.10 % under the age of 18, 11.50 % from 18 to 24, 28.80% from 25 to 44 years, 18.10 % between 45 and 64 years and 11.50% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 97.60 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.30 males.
