Electra is a city in Wichita County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located about 25 km north-west of Wichita Falls in north-west of the county, north of Texas, is about 5 miles from Oklahoma away.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 3,168 people in 1,279 households and 860 families. The population density was 501.3 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 87.66 % White, 4.58 % African American, 1.10 % Native American, 0.06 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 4.29 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.30% were of mixed descent, and 8.68 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 1,279 households, 32.8 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 51.4 % were married couples living together. 12.2% were single mothers and 32.7 % were non-families. 30.1 % of all households were single-person households, and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size amounted to 3.03.
