Bąków, Kluczbork County

Bąków ( German Bankau, schlonsakisch Banke ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Bąków is located in the municipality Kluczbork (Kreuzberg OS) in the powiat Kluczborski in the Polish province of Opole.

History

The peasant village goes back to a foundation of the Templars. The village originally belonged to the circle Ohlau. Soon after 1226 were the Knights of the village expose through the Breslauer patrician family of the Bank to German law. The village was named after the family name Bankowo. After the abolition of the Knights Templar Bankau was taken over in 1314 by the Hospitallers. The village was in 1485 handed over to the Duke of Brieg in exchange and so came to the circle Brieg.

Church

The Protestant church belonged to Bankau while the Catholic belonged to Cross Castle.

One of the main attractions of Bankau is an old grist wooden church. It was around the turn of the 15th and 16th century built. On the main altar is the product derived from the 1370 triptych oldest in Silesia.
