Balochistan

Balochistan (Persian بلوچستان ) is a geographical region in the Iranian highlands, extending over the east of Iran, southern Afghanistan and southwest Pakistan. The area is about 300,000 sq km.

The Pakistani part of the region is found in the Balochistan Province and Iran's part in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan again.

Besides Baluchi, the language of the Baloch, which constitute the largest part of the population, are in the region of other Indo-Iranian languages ​​and Brahui, a Dravidian language, including the tribe of Mengalen spoken. → → Gedrosia and Makran

The floods in Pakistan in 2010 concerned mainly in the mountainous region of Balochistan especially an elongated flat area ( the Kacchi Desert ) north of Jacobabad. Houses were washed away bridges and roads badly damaged, livestock is partially drowned and crops were largely destroyed. In addition, many residents of the adjacent east and more flood-affected Sindh had to flee to Baluchistan.
