Bâloise

The Bāloise Holding AG is a Swiss insurance company with headquarters in Basel. The Group acts as Baloise Group. It employs 8795 employees ( 31 December 2012) across Europe and is the third largest Swiss all-line insurance services for individuals and businesses.

History

The Basler Versicherung in 1863, after a devastating fire in the town of Glarus founded as Basler insurance company against fire damage, among other things, by the later chief of staff of Rudolf Paravicini. In 1864, the range of fire insurance with life and transport insurance has been added. In the following years other lines of insurance will be added. The establishment of the Bāloise Holding was 1962.

Group structure

At the Baloise Group include Basler Switzerland, the fund company Baloise Fund Invest ( Lux ), various real estate and Baloise Bank SoBa with headquarters in Solothurn.

On the German market Baloise Group is represented by its subsidiary " Basler ". Likewise, there are subsidiaries in Liechtenstein ( Baloise Life ), Belgium ( Baloise Insurance ), Luxembourg ( Bāloise Assurances ), Austria ( Basler ), Croatia ( Basler osiguranje Zagreb) and Serbia ( Basler Osiguranje ) .. In October 2013 were the Serbia and Croatia business sold for € 75 million at the UNIQA Insurance Group, so that the existing business in these countries strengthens.

The registered shares of Bāloise Holding AG are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange; to September 2009, they were included in the Swiss Market Index ( SMI).

Since 1 January 2009 Martin Strobel is the CEO of the Group, the Executive Committee consists of six people. In April 2011, Andreas Burckhardt was elected President of the Board so that it solves the long-time president Rolf Schäuble, prefixed with the Board of Directors conferred the title of honorary president.
