The Río Balsas is a river in central Mexico. With a length of 771 kilometers, it is one of the longest rivers in Mexico. It rises at the confluence of San Martín and Zahuapan in the state of Puebla and flows in the Mexican highlands, the Balsas Valley, which was named after the river. In the southern Sierra Madre del Sur, he is dammed for power generation at the dam El Infiernillo. Adjacent to the city of Lázaro Cárdenas flows into the river in the Pacific Ocean.
