Bandar Lampung ( " port Lampung " ), formerly Tanjungkarang and Telukbetung, with the immediately associated port Panjang, is a city in the southernmost part of the Indonesian island of Sumatra with 940 150 inhabitants ( survey in 2010) and an area of ​​169.21 km ². It lies at the northern end of the bay, which forms a part of the flow between Sumatra and Java Sunda Strait.

Bandar Lampung is the capital of the province of Lampung and one of the centers of emigration from the overcrowded islands of Java and Bali.
