The Bank Leu, headquartered in Zurich until the end of 2006 a Swiss private bank.

History

It was founded in 1755 as the State Bank of Zurich City State. Instrumental in the founding was the later mayor Johann Jacob Leu. Its customers included the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa. In 1798, rescued the bank with a quick privatization before the confiscation of their deposits and assets by the advancing French troops. 1915, the head office at Bahnhofstrasse 32 in Zurich was obtained, which is considered one of the most beautiful buildings of the city. Between 1963 and opened in 1979, on the whole canton new branches and blossomed so in this way into a universal bank. 1990, the Bank Leu was from the former CS Holding (now Credit Suisse Group ) bought. 1997-1998 Bank Leu was completely realigned and restructured. In early 2007 it was merged with Clariden Bank, Bank Hofmann and BGP Banca di Gestione Patrimoniale and the securities dealer Credit Suisse Fides Clariden Leu, which was merged in 2012 with Credit Suisse and dissolved.

In her 251st and last financial year, the Bank Leu employed 541 employees and had total assets of 16.524 billion Swiss francs and total client assets of a total of 34 billion Swiss francs.
