Banu Hud

The Hudiden or Banū Hūd (Arabic بنو هود ) - also ( in the genitive ) Bani Hūd - were a 1039 ruling to 1110 Arab dynasty in Zaragoza in Spain today.

After the local rulers of Zaragoza, the Tuǧībiden, had already solved in 1017 by the Caliphate of Córdoba, the Hūdiden arrived there in 1039 under Sulaiman ibn Muhammad ( 1039-1046 ) to power. His successor, Ahmad I. al Muqtadir (1046-1081), Yusuf al - Mu'tamin (1081-1085) and Ahmad al - Mustain II (1085-1110) were great patrons of art and culture. Built by Ahmad I. al - Muqtadir residence " AljaferÃa " is the only almost fully intact residence from the time of the Taifa kingdoms. However, the Hudiden had in 1055 to recognize the supremacy of the Christian Castile and pay tribute. Vizier three emirs was the Jew Ibn Hasdai.

Since 1086 Hudiden led the resistance of the Taifa kingdoms against the Almoravids. Only in 1110 could make those Zaragoza and overthrow the Hudiden. However, Aragón sales already in 1118 the Almoravids from Zaragoza and thus gained control of the Ebro valley. Descendants went to the 13th century history (eg Ibn Hud ).
