Ibn Hud

Ibn Hud († 1238 in Almería) was a Muslim prince in Andalusia ( 1228-1237 ).

Muhammad ibn Hud derived his descent from the Hudiden from Zaragoza. After the Almohads at the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa (1212) had been severely beaten, the attacks against al -Andalus took Christians since 1225 again. This led to a strong dissatisfaction of the population affected by the Almohads, who could no longer protect the country.

Since 1227 broke all over al -Andalus uprisings, where Ibn Hud as governor of Murcia soon took the lead. He rose under the name al - Mutawakkil ruler of Andalusia ( 1228-1237 ). Due to the expansion of the Christian kingdoms Ibn Hud succeeded but no consolidating his rule. Thus, his troops were defeated already in 1230 of Castile in Jerez de la Frontera. He was defeated in 1231 in Mérida the troops of León. In 1233, Ibn Hud had to subjugate Castile and pay tribute.

The decline
