Baozi

A baozi (also: Bao, Biaozi, construction, Nunu or Pow) is a damped, filled pastry. It is popular in various Chinese cuisines. The filling varies greatly, it may for example consist of meat or vegetarian ingredients such as red bean paste or Pak Choi. The baozi is the Chinese mantou very similar. In China it is eaten at all meals, especially for breakfast.

History

According to legend, the baozi from the military strategist Zhuge Liang was invented in the second century after Christ.
