Bar Professional Training Course

The Bar Professional Training Course ( BPTC ) Bar Vocational Course to 2010 (BVC ) called, is a hands-on postgraduate studies in law in England and Wales. The BVC is the transition from a purely theoretical legal education in the LL.B. to practice in the court. It is a necessary condition for admission as a barrister in England and Wales.

The full-time program lasts a year, it can also be completed in two years as a part -time study. The courses are regulated by the Bar Council.

The BPTC is not an LL.M. and no master degrees. The difference between the BPTC and the LL.M. is that the latter is an academic degree, while the BVC prepare graduates to practice.

The BPTC is in England and Wales, the traditional preparation for the activity in court. The also offered postgraduate Legal Practice Course ( LPC) prepared against it before the office work in a law firm. Hence, the traditional division of labor between the people working in the law firm Solicitor and the Barrister acting in court.

The training of an English barristers normally includes three years full-time, graduating with a Bachelor's degree ( LL.B. ) and one year of full -time study within the BPTC. Followed by two years of training as a "pupil " at a licensed barrister ( the corresponding counterpart in the training Solicitor is the " traineeship " ), followed by the approval as a barrister.
