Baranyajenő

Baranyajenő (German Jening ) is a town in Baranya county in Hungary.

Geography

The village Baranyajenő located in Transdanubia, the land beyond the Danube in southern Hungary. The so-called Swabian Turkey is in Baranyajenő, in a central location, a point of intersection. Two kilometers north of the village center is the Dreikomitateneck. Here the limit of Baranya ( Baranya ) is the place Baranyajenő, Tolna ( Tolna ) with the place Jagonak and Somogy ( Somogy ) with the place Kercseliget.

Place names

Originally the place Baranyajenő was known under the name Gyenő. Until the 19th century the place was then called Jenő. Just at the beginning of the 20th century, ie on 1 January 1901 the village name was eventually changed from Jenő after Baranyajenő, as it previously did to confusion with the same name ( Jenő ) locations in Hungary.

On December 1, 1944, Soviet troops marched into Baranyajenő and led on December 27, 1944 by decree of the deportation of 18 to 30 years and all German men aged 17 to 45 years of all German women for forced labor in the Soviet Union.
