Tolna, Hungary

Tolna [ tolnɒ ] ( German: Tolna ) is a city in the same county in Hungary.

Location

Tolna has about 12,000 inhabitants and is located about 130 kilometers south of Budapest. In the vicinity of Tolna Paks are, the county seat Szekszárd and some villages, such as Fadd, Bogyiszló and Fácánkert.

Structure

The city is made up of the districts of Tolna and Mözs, where Mözs was formerly an independent town.

History

The area around Tolna was already inhabited in Roman times, probably built a well-worn from the Danube in post-ancient times border fort named Alta Ripa here. During the reign of the royal house of Árpád dynasty in Hungary the village Thelena was called and later renamed in Tolna.
