Barbapapa

Barbapapa is the name of a series of children's books and cartoon characters that were developed in the late 1960s in Paris by French architecture student Annette Tison and Talus Taylor the American Biology Teacher.

The name derives from the French word for cotton candy ( " barbe à papa", literally " Papa's beard ").

Content and figures

The Barbapapas are a family of each monochromatic fantasy characters. In the normal state they are about pear-shaped, but they can knetmassenähnlich change shape and so, for example, serve as a wheelbarrow or bridge and thereby help others. They are very friendly and cheerful nature and get along well with people and animals from. The official transformation spell each Barbapapa is " Ra -Ru Rick Barbatrick ".

The family consists of the parents and seven children:

  • Barbapapa ( pink, father)
  • Barbamama (black, mother)

Girl:

  • Barbabella ( purple, beautiful )
  • Barbaletta (orange, literate )
  • Barbalala (green, musical )

Boys:

  • Barbarix (blue, scientists)
  • Barbawum (red, athletic, plays detective and has the dog Lolita )
  • Barbabo (black and hairy, artist)
  • Barbakus (yellow, animal and nature lover )

Publications

The first Barbapapa book was published in 1970. Meanwhile, the Barbapapa books have been translated into over 30 languages. In a German edition appeared in the Swiss Atlantis / Orell Füssli Verlag following volumes:

Animated series

Starting from the comics a Franco- Japanese animated series with 45 episodes was produced à five minutes in 1974. The German premiere of the first episode was on November 5, 1974. All characters were spoken by the voice actor and director Peter Kirchberger. This first series was published under the title Barbapapa Barbapapa Classics Classics and 2 on DVD. In several of the consequences society-critical issues such as pollution, land use, transportation, whaling, etc. are treated.

In 1977, another 55 episodes of five minutes produced, but which appeared in a German version in 2010 on two DVDs under the title Barbapapa Barbapapa Classics Classics 3 and 4. Speakers of all figures is again Peter Kirchberger.

For the 25th anniversary of the television series was created in 1999, the new series Barbapapa Sekai o Mawaru (バーバパパ 世界 を まわる, Bābapapa sekai o Mawaru ) with 50 episodes of five minutes as a purely Japanese anime series, again according to the original designs and scenarios of Tison and Taylor. Under the title Around the World with this Barbapapa appeared completely on DVD. In contrast to the series of 1974, the various characters are now spoken by different speakers. Also the saying " Ra -Ru Rick Barbatrick " is missing before the transformations.

Universum Film published on 14 September 2012, the Barbapapa Komplettbox in all 150 episodes are included in German on six DVDs.
