Barbara Fredrickson

Barbara Lee Fredrickson ( born June 15, 1964) is an American psychologist.

Work

Barbara Fredrickson is a professor of psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and senior scientist at the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Lab ( Peplab ) of this University. She received her Ph.D. in 1990 at Stanford University. Prior to her work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she was a professor at the University of Michigan.

It contributed to the development of positive psychology and developed, among other things, the Broaden - and-build theory.

Awards

Barbara Fredrickson was recognized for her academic achievements with numerous awards. Among other things, she was awarded in 2000 for the development of the Broaden - and-build theory of the Templeton Prize in Positive Psychology, 2008 Career Trajectory Award of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and 2013, Christopher Peterson Gold Medal, the highest award of the International Positive Psychology Association.
