Barbara Rinke

Barbara Rinke ( born January 8, 1947 in Nordhausen ) is a German local politician (SPD) and was from 1994 to 2012 mayor of the city Nordhausen. From 2003 to 2009 she was President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD ) and as such member of the Council of the EKD.

Career

Barbara Rinke attended school at Nordhausen and studied for her skilled worker qualification as Gebrauchswerberin advertising economy. After graduating in 1972 she took a job working as a promotional economist. From 1972 to 1974 she was operations manager of his parents, government- operation and stood him after the re-privatization in 1990 four years as managing director before.

Active early in the volunteer work for the Protestant church, she was elected to the provincial synod and was 15 years a member of the church leadership. After the turn, she joined in the SPD, 1994-2012 Mayor of Nordhausen.

Barbara Rinke has long been on the board of the German Evangelical Church Council and was its President from 1997 to 1999. In the 8th and 9th Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany ( the first all-German ) was Barbara Rinke deputy Präses. In the 10th Synod ( 2003-2009 ) she was Präses as successor Jürgen Schmudes. It was followed in 2009 Katrin Göring -Eckardt.

Barbara Rinke is a mother of four daughters.
