Baron Baden-Powell

Baron Baden -Powell of Gilwell in the County of Essex, is a British hereditary title of nobility, which is run by the family of Baden- Powell. It belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom.

Award

The title was created in 1929 for the military and founder of the Scout movement Robert Baden- Powell. This had been organized during the Second Boer War, the defense of the city Mafeking, which was besieged by the Boers 217 days until she could be shocked. After retiring from military service, he founded the worldwide Scouting movement.
