Baron Glentoran

Baron Glentoran, of Ballyalloly in the County of Down, is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, which is run by the family Dixon.

Award

The title was created in 1939 for the Northern Irish politician Herbert Dixon. This was one of the Unionists and was for many years a member of the Regional Government of Northern Ireland.

Another title

The father of the first Baron was also a prominent Northern Irish politician. Among other things, he was several times Lord Mayor of Belfast. In 1903 he was raised to the baronet. This title, which belongs to the baronetcy of the United Kingdom is today managed by the respective Baron.
