Baron Reith

Baron Reith of Stonehaven in the County of Kincardine, is a British hereditary title of nobility, which belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It is run by the family Reith.

Award

The title was for Sir John Reith, the first Director General of the BBC, created in 1940. This was then Information Minister in the Cabinet Churchill.

The barony was in 1971 on the death of Reith over on his only son. This abandoned in the following year for himself personally to the title. He is revived in his death.

The heir apparent is the only son of the former Baron, Hon James Harry John Reith (* 1971).
