Baron Rotherwick

Baron Rotherwick, of Tylney in the County of Southampton, is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, named after the town of Wick Rother, which is run by a branch of the Cayzer family.

Award

The title was awarded to the shipping magnate and Conservative politician Herbert Robin Cayzer in 1939. Cayzer had the district Portsmouth South in the House of Commons represented.

More titles

Before his elevation to the peerage Cayzer was in 1924 a Baronet, of Tylney in the County of Southampton, was appointed. This title is therefore in effect a subordinate title of the barony.

The first Baron was the fifth son of Sir Charles Cayzer, 1st Baronet, of Gartmore. In February 2012, the baronetcy fell to the third Baron. Also this dignity will be borne by each baron.

Both Baronetcys belong to the Baronetage of the United Kingdom.
