Baron Strange

Baron Strange is a hereditary title of nobility English ( barony by writ ) in the Peerage of England, the John V. Lestrange ( 1254-1309 ) by his enlistment in the Royal Council ( Writ of Summons ) established the hereditary barony in 1299. The title of Baron Strange ( of Knockin ) was passed down in the family Lestrange to 1513 /4, as Joan Lestrange, the heiress of the house and 9th Baroness Strange died, and the title of her son, Thomas Stanley, 2nd Earl of Derby, passed. The title came after the death of the sons loose 5 Earls of Derby and 13th Baron Strange in 1594 in abeyance. This limbo lasted until 1921, when Elizabeth Abney -Hastings, wife of 1st Viscount St Davids, the title successfully petitionierter and 14th Baroness Strange was. My great-grandson, the fourth Viscount St. David, is the 17th Baron Strange since 2009.

A Strange barony of 1628 was created by Writ of Summons, which persists to this day, and here with the treated barony Strange ( of Knockin ) by 1299 should not be confused.
