Barr Pharmaceuticals is a US-based pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Pomona, New York. The company is among the ten largest generic drug manufacturers in the world. Barr Pharmaceuticals is listed on the stock index S & P 500.

In October 2006, the Croatian company Pliva was acquired by Barr Pharmaceuticals. The management of the company has Bruce Downey (as of 2007). The company was founded in 1970 in upstate New York.

On 18 July 2008 it was announced that Barr Pharmaceuticals by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, the Israeli world leader in generics, is to be taken, which was done in January 2009.
