Barrington Levy

Barrington Levy ( born April 30, 1964 in Kingston, Jamaica ) is a ragga and dancehall musician from Jamaica. His greatest achievements include Here I come, Under Mi Sensi and Englishman.

Career

After his entry into the music business was not very successful with his brother as Mighty Multitude in 1977, he began a year later to work, among others, Henry " Junjo " Lawes, one of the leading producers in the late 1970s and the first half of the 1980s. After he had 1978 hits like De Yah we, Hunter Shine Eye Gal and Man in the year, he published in 1979 his debut album Bounty Hunter ( Shaolin Temple ), which is referred to by some as the first dancehall album. In the subsequent period, the early 1980s, he coined the sound and vocal style of the early dancehall with albums like Englishman, Robin Hood or Money Move decisively and served as a model among other things, Tenor Saw.

In 1985 he succeeded with Here I come, which is one of his most famous songs is until today, the transition to the digital dancehall, which then was for some time the prevailing style. Then it was quiet around him, even if he continues - but rare - published. In 1998, for example, the feature Living Dangerously by Bounty Killer a hit.
