Barry Hickey

Barry James Hickey ( born April 16, 1936 in Leonora, Western Australia ) is an emeritus Archbishop of Perth.

Life

Hickey received on 20 December 1958, the ordination to the priesthood in Rome by Cardinal Paolo Giobbi. After visiting the St Charles Seminary, he completed from 1955 to 1959 his degree in theology at the Pontifical Urban University; In 1973, he took a master's degree in social work at the University of Western Australia. In 1984 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Geraldton; episcopal ordination May 1, 1984 He received his Archbishop William Joseph Foley. In 1991 he was named Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Perth.
