Barry Opdam

Barry Opdam ( born February 27, 1976 in Leiden) is a Dutch football player. He plays the position of defender.

Career

Association

He began his career at FC Lisse. From the 1996/97 season he played at AZ Alkmaar. At that time came as newly promoted to the Premier Division, helped Opdam, the club to lead to one of the top teams in the Netherlands. In its first year on the Salzach River, the Austrian league title was won. In the following season, the success could be repeated. Under Huub Stevens he played as a substitute for Franz Schiemer in the defensive midfield.

After the 2009/10 season, Barry Opdam Salzburg left to summer 2010 his career at FC Volendam to end in the second highest Dutch league.

National

For the Dutch national team, he played eight games since 2005; while he scored a goal. His first game he played against Romania on 4 June 2008, which was won 2-0. Against the Czech team Opdam scored his first goal for the Oranje. 2008 Opdam was in the Dutch squad for the Olympic football tournament, but renounced in favor of his new club Salzburg to participate.
