Barry Otto
Barry Otto ( born 1941 in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian actor.
Barry Otto is active both on stage and in film and television. His portrayal of Doug Hastings in the dance film Strictly Ballroom - The dance of the rules of director Baz Luhrmann earned him the award of the 1992 AFI Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He received nominations in later years for performances in Bliss, Cosi and The More Things Change.
Although Barry Otto is better known as an actor, he also exerts a recognized role as a painter. He exhibited his oil paintings on canvas in various Australian galleries, including the prestigious Andrew Crawford Gallery in Paddington, Sydney.
Barry Otto is the father of Australian actresses Gracie Otto and Miranda Otto, father of actor Peter O'Brien.
