Bartolomeo Facio

Life

As a student of Guarino da Verona looked Facio as a tutor in Venice, Florence and Genoa. 1444 he drove in the diplomatic service of Genoa to Naples, where he became secretary and astrologer of King Alfonso V of Aragon. His historical work about the government of Alfonso is one of the main sources for the study of Neapolitan culture in the 15th century. With his work " De viris illustribus " Facio wrote the biographies of important contemporaries. Facio contested from a long, bitter struggle against Lorenzo Valla, whose historical work about Ferdinand I of Aragon he had criticized.
