Basel Action Network

The Basel Action Network (BAN ) is an international non-governmental organization with the aim to combat the export of toxic waste, toxic technology and toxic products from developed countries to developing countries. BAN operates worldwide but has its headquarters in Seattle, in the U.S. state of Washington with a partner office in the Philippines. BAN is named after the Basel Convention, a UN treaty to regulate the dumping of toxic waste, especially in developing countries and prevent them.

BAN acts as guardian and promoter of the Basel Convention. The organization has made ​​itself a name as an important source of information on topics related to electronic waste and trade in electrical equipment, as advocates of international policy that addresses the trade in electrical equipment, as a research network to detect illicit export of electronic waste and as a key player in various campaigns.
