Basellandschaftliche Zeitung
Basellandschaftliche newspaper (bz ), headquartered in Liestal, according to the Basler Zeitung, the second largest daily newspaper in the Basel region. The circulation is 23'635 copies sold ( WEMF 2013).

History
Precursor
As a precursor of bz is considered " The intrepid Rauracher ". The subtitle of this newspaper described as " a Swiss, truth -loving Journal of Religion, reasonable people right and Enlightenment." The establishment falls within the period of the Basel Canton separation. This civil war was also a paper war, which was first fought mainly with leaflets. That changed in January 1831 in Basel for the first time appeared the " Baseler Zeitung". Three times a week trying to stem the revolutionary movement in the country with one-sided articles in this journal. The company Banga and Honegger printed but already several other newspapers. In the meantime appeared in the Basel area up to six newspapers next to each other. Many were printed in Banga and Honegger, often changed their names and went soon again. 1853 appeared in Basel country only three newspapers: " Landschäftler ", " Federal Friend " and " Baselbieter ". These three papers presented over time in opposition to the government. Founded in 1854

Development in the 20th century
At the beginning of the 20th century bz had a circulation of 6,000, which reached 20,000 after a steady increase in the 1980s. In 1992, the bz the " northern Switzerland ." This Catholic newspaper was anchored in the Bernese Laufental and heavily in deficit. By accession to the newspaper section of the Mittelland -Zeitung in 2006, the bz was called " Northern Switzerland " in the subtitle.
