BasicLinux

Basic Linux (alternatively BasLin, BasLinux or BL3 ) is a minimalist Linux distribution in the English language designed specifically for extremely old systems ( 386 and 486 ) is designed with a then usual amount of memory.

The system, which uses the Linux kernel 2.2.26, is it usable without a graphical interface starting at only 3 MB RAM - modern, fully-fledged Linux systems absolutely require about 10 times.

The system itself has a size of 21.5 MB, which is among other sources, on BusyBox, and various command line- based programs such as the mail client Mutt. Basic Linux can be copied to the hard drive, and started from the DOS console. It can be located on the same partition as a Windows operating system. Another variant starts from two floppies, but requires more memory (12 MB). As a modification of Slackware 4.0 packages can be installed from this under Basic Linux.
